Today I started more intensive training with Farina to get her muscles developed.
She has been dewormded, her teeth have been done and she has gained quite a lot of weight, so the timing is perfect.

My plan consists of a series of exercises at a an extended walk and at a trot, with lots of transitions (this encourages her to use and develop her hind muscles more).
I’m also using cavaletti to strengthen that hind end and 1 jump of about 20 cm high (not huge).
That reminds me that I saw her jump in the pasture over some poles and it was impressive! She jumped 1 meter high, while the poles were on the ground, and again that posture was stunning.
Her sideways is also improving, it is slow but right (and that beats fast and wrong).
I did find a LBE side of her when playing the figure of 8 at a trot, it was fun and we had ourselves a little play moment there.
To get her confidence up, as a friendly game, I used an umbrella to despook her. Wow did she spook from that! She relaxed quite fast but the initial spook was huge. After 2 minutes she walked behind me sniffing the umbrella, cool horse :-).
I’m also continuing the trailer loading exercises as I would like to transport her to an inside arena where we could have some more done during this winter time as the pasture here is quite slippery and it is not good for her or my confidence. We are both afraid she would slip.
I am extremely satisfied with her progress and again amazed by her connection to me, she is with me all the way and that is super.

I will follow this training program  for the coming 7 days, adding or extending the exercises if she offers more or when I see she is ready. Next week I’ll look at changing the exercises and making some of them longer and harder for her.
Hopefully she’ll be strong enough to be ridden again before Christmas. I already noticed that her back is less sore when I run my fingers over it and also that her hind end seems a bit better developed.

I hope to find someone to film me this week with her so that you can all see how she is doing, so no promises but I’ll try real hard to find a victim 😉

Thank you sweet readers,
